Jacqueline Fernandez grew up in Bahrain, Manama. She is Sri Lankan and comes from a diverse ethnic background. Her father, Elroy Fernandez is Sri Lankan. Her siblings include two brothers and an older sister. Her family was born and raised in Bahrain. Her parents been to the country in the 1980s because of civil unrest within Sri Lanka. In Australia she pursued a degree in Media and Communications at University of Sydney after graduating from Bahrain. A lover of cultures as well as languages, she enrolled in Berlitz Language School in which she studied Spanish as well as enhancing her French as well as Arabic. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 won Miss Universe 2006 competition in March of 2006, and later competed as Miss Universe 2006 also. After winning Miss Sri Lanka title in 2006, she stepped into the world of television. She was the host of a show about Sri Lanka's business, named Lanka Business Report. Padukone (the child of badminton player Prakash Padukone) was born and grew up in Bangalore. When she was in her teens she competed in national championships of badminton at both the regional and international levels. But, she resigned from the sport in order to make a profession as designer. Padukone is a native of Mangalore in India. Her native language Konkani is her mother tongue. Her lineage is from Padukone village located in Kundapura Taluk in the Udupi District in Karnataka, the Indian state. Karnataka, India. Prakash Padukone is her father and was a badminton player of international fame. Her mother works as an agent for travel.
